‘The Opening’ kickstarts Gothenburg Fringe 2018

On Thursday evening, the third edition of the Gothenburg Fringe launched with a beautiful set of performances both in and outside Gathenhielmska Huset. The site-specific performance featured original music by American group String Theory Harp together with music and story concept from the film script Frozen Waterfall by Isabel Lagos and Kalle Leander. Bloom Monday back with a bang on 27 August

Following a successful debut last year, Bloom Monday is back to shake shake shake the Gothenburg Fringe on Monday 27 August. A day full day of activities with themes such as personal challenges, audience engagement, urban transformation and art’s role in society provides a wonderful opportunity to share experiences as creative beings. It doesn’t matter whether you are an artist, a producer, a dentist or a passionate theatre-goer, there will be inspiring workshops and sessions for everyone. Discover cutting-edge performances in in unique and unexpected places, as well as some classic venues when the Gothenburg Fringe takes place on 23-27 August. A variety of fine Swedish and international artists performing comedy, dance, theatre, art, music, performance, film, circus and poetry will have a home across 13 venues from Esperantoplatsen to Majorna and they are ready to give the people of Gothenburg a weekend they will not forget. We are taking the tagline of ‘The city is our stage’ very seriously, by complementing our more traditional theatre venues with unique and unexpected spaces and that is clear to see in our two main hubs for the festival – Draken and Gathenhielmska Huset. Spreading a universal message of hope and empowerment with The Pink Hulk

The Pink Hulk is a title few will have passed by in our programme without a second glance and with good reason. This powerful image is the title for a powerful show, which is a must-see at this month’s Gothenburg Fringe. Valerie David, the Writer and Performer of The Pink Hulk, brings her one-woman play from New York to Gothenburg’s Draken on 24-26 August, where she takes the audience on her journey of overcoming cancer twice, sharing her story in a frank and humorous manner.
