Supporting artist growth with Gothenburg Fringe’s Bloom Hours

Updated: Aug 30, 2020

Gothenburg Fringe has built a reputation as an event where strong bonds are formed and a community spirit is always felt.

A key part of this began three years ago when we brought an end to the festival with a complete day of meetings and workshops called Bloom Monday.

Although it is usually open for everyone to enjoy, with this year’s focus on supporting the local art scene, we wish to open up the Fringe treasure box and treat our artists and volunteers with some extra care.

All activities are for free but you must register in order for us to know the number of participants. Places are limited, so book now to be sure of a place.

Friday 4 September

Gyrokinesis session with Elodie Labonne

Sign up to the workshop and enjoy some inner peace and stimulation before the festival really kicks in. Join Elodie from the World Dance Company for a Gyrokenisis class, set in the peaceful and green garden of Gathenhielmska huset at 12:30. Just arrive in comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle.

The Gyrokinesis Method is a movement method that addresses the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion, and creating functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences. Send an email to elin@gbgfringe.com to sign up.

Address: Stigbergstorget 7

Duration: 60 min (Max 15 people)

Saturday 5 September

Explore the Fringe world and the opportunities within it

Saturday 5 September 2020 at 10:30 CET, at Frilagret and online. (Doors open at 10:00 CET)

Welcome to a seminar where we will explore an international performing arts network with over 200 festivals around the world and the possibilities it provides for producers, artists and cities to grow.

Every Fringe festival is different - but what defines Fringe is common. The joy of gathering a diverse spectrum of performing arts from around the world. We’ll hear from three different festival organisers as they speak about their work and together discuss what possibilities lie within the Fringe - as a route for artists to develop their work and travel the world with their show.

The seminar is aimed at artists and producers who are curious about the wide world of Fringe and how they can explore it.

Programme

- Guest speakers will discuss their festivals - Exploring the touring possibilities within Fringe networks - Chance to ask questions Moderated by our own festival director Chris O ́Reilly
