Get your Fringe week off to the perfect start with our series of free events on Wednesday 7 September.
Our now traditional start to the festival week is 'The Opening', which focuses on making brilliant performing arts available to all and sharing fringe with the community and new audiences each year. With this in mind, The Opening is taking Gothenburg Fringe to Kulturhus Kviberg this year.
The Opening includes free-access entertainment for all with a variety of performances and activities for all ages.
The festivities begins with a children's show at 16:00, followed by a mixture of music, clowning, dance, comedy and circus until 19:30.
The Opening is a free event in collaboration with Higab AB. No ticket is needed to attend but you can help give us an idea of attendance by booking a free ticket here.
Fringe on a tram!
Thinking about how you're going to get to Kviberg? How about the Fringe Tram?
We have rented one of Gothenburg's historical trams to become a roaming home for Fringe on Wednesday evening.
Enjoy some unique Fringe entertainment on board as we bring you to the opening evening at Kvibergs Kulturhus, where we'll celebrate the beginning of the festival with live performances, food and a chance to meet new Fringe friends.
The final trip on the tram will bring you back from Kviberg to Masthuggstorget, where we head over to Kvartersscenen 2lång for our preview night, where artists will have a chance to impress you with a quick teaser of their show.
The Fringe Tram is free to access but places are limited, so we recommend booking your spot here. Here is the tram schedule: 16:30 - 16:55 | Stigbergstorget to Kviberg | Also entry to the opening event at Kulturhus Kviberg
17:30 - 17:55 | Stigbergstorget to Kviberg | Also entry to the opening event at Kulturhus Kviberg
19:45 - 20:10 | Kviberg to Masthuggstorget | Also entry to the preview night at Kvartersscenen 2lång
A taste of the fest with preview night
Our wild Wednesday concludes at Kvartersscenen 2lång with the Preview Night.
Gothenburg Fringe artists get just three minutes to present a taste of their work and convince you to see their show.
The preview night is the ideal way to get into the Fringe spirit, enjoying a taste of what is to come in a relaxed environment at Kvartersscenen 2lång.
Whether you have no idea what you want to see at Gothenburg Fringe, or have already booked all of your tickets, the preview night is a great way to discover more talent and let yourself be surprised.
As with everything on Wednesday, the preview night is free but capacity is limited, so reserve your place here.
And if you've yet to book some tickets for the full programme, beginning on Thursday 8 September - get on over to our ticket site gbgfringe.com.
