Back to Square One?
by The Rebel Alliance (New Zealand/Denmark)
The Rebel Alliance invites you into 95 year old Inga’s living room in Denmark as she reaches out through space and time to her grandson in New Zealand.
Inga has seen world wars, cold wars, civil wars. In real life and on TV. And when you’re close to 100 you know a thing or two about a thing or two.
Back to Square One? was originally designed to be performed in driveways, parks and cul-de-sacs in the aftermath of the 2020 lockdown. Using only chalk to draw with writer and performer Anders Falstie-Jensen weaves the myth of Ragnarok into a unique story of disasters, family and unexpected connections.
Winner of 'Best of Fest' at the 2022 Nelson Fringe Festival and shortlisted for the 2020 Adam Award for Best New NZ Play, Back to Square One? is based on conversations Anders had with his 95-year-old grandmother in Denmark during the first lockdown and interviews he conducted with his neighbours about their experiences of suddenly finding themselves living in a global pandemic.

Welcome Home
by Storm Dunder (Sweden)
Storm Dunder is a creative force, seamlessly blending music production, performance, visual and wearable art. With a fearless approach, Storm delves deep into their own psyche, capturing the most free, fragile, brutal, glorious, and grotesque aspects of their inner life. Through electrifying and visually striking performances, they invite audiences into a realm where vulnerability and strength coalesce. With a violin in one hand and a microphone in the other they make the stage a canvas for their stories, each performance, a raw, unfiltered exploration of self.
Their upcoming album, and four-time award-winning show “Welcome Home” chronologically documents how their voice is changing as a result of gender affirming hormone treatment with testosterone. Simultaneously it tells the story of a machine with a distant memory of being a child, transformed into a mechanical being through a gradual replacement of body parts. Welcome Home follows the machine's desperate quest to regain its humanity, a poignant portrayal of change and the pursuit of finding one's home.
Winner of the ‘Mind Blown’ award at last year’s festival, Storm is back in town and with a full band this time, bringing the show to Eriksbergshallen on 31 August and 2 September.

Or are we being silly?

Koreograferade Mormordikter
by Louise Halvardsson (Sweden)

Created and performed by Cyprus-based dance artist Evie Demetriou, this evocative piece draws inspiration from her island life, where the sea serves as a profound metaphor for identity and relationships.
Through the lens of personal identity and gender, WHO CARES plyafully examines the tension between our individual desires and societal expectations. It questions how social norms, stereotypes, and public policies shape our perceptions and actions.
Blurring the boundaries of dance, performance, and physical theatre, the performance combines intimacy with humour, strong physicality with confessions and honesty with imagination. WHO CARES promises a thought-provoking journey of reflection and discovery.
