Artists are invited to register interest for a paid residency and performance opportunity as Gothenburg Fringe takes over a part of Slakthuset in Gothenburg's Gamlestaden.
As part of an ongoing collaboration, we have been given the opportunity to open a fascinating space to artists for a three-week residency beginning Tuesday 15 August, culminating in a public performance on Friday 1 September as part of the Opening evening of the Gothenburg Fringe Festival 2023.
Anyone interested in being involved in the process should email Nikhil Acharya (nikhil@gbgfringe.com).
The old slaughterhouse with a rustic industrial feel is longing for a new beginning and as it is opened up for creative purposes, we will follow the theme of rebirth, inviting interested creatives in all disciplines to explore the space with us.
Following an open showing of the space and a creative workshop, artists are invited to pitch their idea.
The selected artists will receive:
a set fee for their work
a budget for technical support and materials
an opportunity to grow as an artist within a historic space that is not sensitive to change
a chance to collaborate with other local artists over a three-week period
a public performance as part of the festival's opening evening
We envision the residency will be an open process in which we invite the public to observe the development of the work as it grows within the building.
